Short answer: PetZen is a cordless, rechargeable spray device, currently listed at $54.95. Every device comes with the free PetZen Enzyme Recipe Book, a PDF of home formulas. How PetZen works, in four steps
- Charge the device fully before first use, following the instructions that come with it.
- Fill the tank with the enzyme refill, following the bottle label, or with a formula from the recipe book, following its measurements. Don't improvise with other household cleaners, essential oils or bleach.
- Mist the fabric, not the pet. Hold the device at the distance the instructions give and work across the couch, dog bed, carpet or car seat in even passes.
- Let it dry completely before pets or children use the area again.
PetZen is an applicator: it turns a liquid into a fine, even mist across large fabric areas. What it does to an odor depends on what's in the tank, so read the label of whatever you use. For a fresh urine accident, blot first and follow your fabric's care label. Our pet odor spray vs enzyme cleaner guide explains which tool fits which mess.
Do you need the enzyme refill?
Not to get started. The device and the free recipe book are everything you need to begin. The $25.99 refill is for owners who would rather pour a ready-made enzyme formula than mix their own, or who want a bottle on hand for busy weeks. Since it's a separate purchase and the device isn't included, add it to your order only if you'll use it.
Is the device worth it compared with a bottle of spray?
It comes down to how often you treat fabric. A trigger-spray cleaner from the supermarket costs less upfront, and if you deal with one smelly cushion a few times a year, that's probably all you need. A rechargeable mister costs more on day one, but after that you choose what to spend on: home-mixed formulas or the enzyme refill. It also puts down a finer, more even mist, which is handy when you're covering a whole sofa or a large dog bed rather than one spot.
A quick way to decide: if you can picture yourself using it at least weekly across two or three surfaces, the device is likely to earn its place. If you can't, start with a labeled cleaner and come back to PetZen later. Either way, a misting device doesn't replace washing removable covers and bedding when their care labels allow it.
What PetZen costs over time
Here is the cost picture using the live prices:
- PetZen Spray device, with the free recipe book: $54.95
- Optional enzyme formula refill: $25.99 a bottle
- Or: the household ingredients the recipe book formulas call for
| If you use… | Year-one cost |
|---|---|
| Home formulas only | $54.95 + your ingredients |
| The device plus 2 refills a year | $54.95 + $51.98 = $106.93 |
| The device plus 4 refills a year | $54.95 + $103.96 = $158.91 |
| The device plus 6 refills a year | $54.95 + $155.94 = $210.89 |
The refill counts above are examples, not a usage estimate. How long a bottle lasts depends on how much you use and how many areas you treat. To find your real number, keep a quick note for a month:
| Week | Sessions | What you treated | What you used |
|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Week 1 | Tally each use | Couch, dog bed, car | Refill, or the formula you mixed |
After a month you'll know roughly what a session costs in your home, so you can compare it fairly with buying ready-made sprays.
Our shipping policy lists free shipping on all products, with an optional $2.50 charge for express and secured shipping. Delivery takes 8–12 business days. Orders placed after about 4 pm PT, or over the weekend, ship the next working day.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | First things to check |
|---|---|
| Mist is weak or stops | Battery charge, tank level, and whether the nozzle needs cleaning per the instructions |
| Device leaks | Tank cap seated properly, not overfilled, stored upright |
| Nozzle clogs | Rinse the tank and run plain water through after each session, especially after mixes with dissolved ingredients |
| Smell comes back after drying | The source may be deeper in the cushion or padding; see the odor guide linked above |
| Not sure a liquid is suitable | Don't use it. Stick to the enzyme refill or the recipe book formulas, or ask us first |

Storage and safety
- Keep pets and children out of the room while you mist, and keep them off the fabric until it's dry.
- Never spray an animal. PetZen is for household fabrics.
- Don't mix other cleaning products into the tank or combine cleaners.
- Store the enzyme refill as its label directs. Label any bottle you keep a home-mixed formula in, and keep both capped and out of reach of pets and children.
- Test a hidden patch of any new fabric first and let it dry before treating a larger area.
- Empty and rinse the tank after use rather than leaving a mix sitting in it.
FAQ
Does Zenca sell a refill solution for PetZen?
Yes. The Enzyme Bottle is a replacement enzyme formula solution for PetZen, listed at $25.99. You can also mix your own formulas from the free recipe book that comes with the device.
Does the refill include the device?
No. The refill is the solution only. If you don't own PetZen yet, buy the device first.
Can I use another cleaner in the tank?
Stick to the enzyme refill or the recipe book formulas. Other products may damage the device or react with what's already in the tank.
How long does a charge last?
It varies with how long each session runs. Follow the charging instructions that come with your device, and charge it fully before a big job.
Can I return an opened item?
Our refund policy gives you 30 days from delivery to request a return. Items must be unused and in their original packaging, so an opened or used item usually won't qualify. If something arrives damaged, faulty or wrong, email us photos within 30 days of delivery and we'll replace it or refund you.
Is PetZen an enzyme cleaner?
PetZen is the misting device. The enzyme formula is the refill solution you put in it, sold separately at $25.99, or you can use a formula from the recipe book.
Does shipping cost extra?
No. Shipping is free on every order and usually takes 8–12 business days. See our shipping policy for details.
