Most rakes are made for tidying. Thin pressed tines, a light head, fine for pulling leaves off a lawn. Ask one to break a clay bed or drag out a mat of couch grass and the tines splay within a season.

ZencaRake is built the other way round — thick steel teeth on a heavy head, sized so you can put your whole body behind a pull without wondering whether the tool will survive it.

What It Handles

• Root mats and creeping weeds. The teeth get under the mat and lift it rather than combing over the top.
• Compacted and clay soil. Drive in, pull back, and the ground fractures instead of just scratching.
• Stony and rough ground. Heavy enough to drag out buried rubble and roots when you're reclaiming a neglected bed.
• Levelling. Flip it over and grade the surface flat with the back of the head before sowing.

Pick Your Width

All four heads share the same 14 cm depth and 30 cm tine length. The difference is width — how much ground you cover per pull, traded against how much resistance you have to overcome.

• 4 Tooth — 15 × 14 × 30 cm. Narrowest and most aggressive, for heavy clay and tight spaces.
• 5 Tooth — 19.5 × 14 × 30 cm. Good all-rounder for average garden soil.
• 6 Tooth — 23 × 14 × 30 cm. Wider coverage for open beds.
• 7 Tooth — 27.7 × 14 × 30 cm. Widest, for allotments and large workable plots.

Common Questions

Is a handle included?
No. Check the socket diameter for your chosen size — 30 mm on the 4 tooth, 32 mm on the rest — and fit a standard handle to suit your height.

Which size should I get?
Narrow for hard ground, wide for covering area. If your soil is heavy clay, the 4 or 5 tooth will be far less exhausting than the 7.

How does it compare to ZencaRake 2.0?
The 2.0 has a reworked heavier head and forged tine geometry for better penetration. This original model is the straightforward heavy-duty steel version.

Will it rust?
Steel left wet will surface-rust. Knock the soil off, dry it, and a wipe of oil keeps it clean between uses.

Can I use it on a lawn?
Only very lightly for dethatching. It's a ground-breaking tool, and pulled hard it will lift turf.
