Portable Folding Stool | 120kg Carbon Steel X-Frame That Packs Into A Pouch
The Upturned Bucket Is Not Working
Every gardener has a seat of last resort — a crate, a bucket, a bag of compost. None of them are the right height, none of them are stable on soft ground, and getting up off any of them is its own small event.
This weighs 700 grams and folds into a pouch not much bigger than a phone. It sits at 32 cm, takes 120 kg, and doesn't sink or wobble on wet soil.
Why It Holds Up
- Reinforced carbon steel X-frame. The X geometry puts the load through the frame in compression rather than bending it, which is why something this light supports 120 kg without creaking.
- Double-layer Oxford cloth. Two layers, not one, with a PU coating. It's the seat panel that fails first on cheap stools — this one doesn't sag into a hammock after a season.
- Waterproof and wipe-clean. The PU coating sheds rain and mud. Wipe it down and put it away; it won't hold damp and go mouldy in the shed.
- Anti-slip feet. Wide-set feet that grip on decking and wet paving rather than skating out from under you.
- 700 grams. Lighter than a full water bottle. It goes in a tote, a rucksack or a wheelbarrow and you forget it's there.
- Opens in one motion. Pull the frame and it's ready. No poles to slot together.

Common Questions
Is 32 cm high enough?
It's a low stool, deliberately — it puts you at bed height for weeding and planting. If you want a seat to sit and rest on at normal chair height, this is not that, and you'll find getting up from it harder than you'd like.
Will it sink into soft ground?
The feet are small, so on very soft, wet soil it will press in. On lawn, path, decking and firm beds it's stable. A board underneath solves it if your ground is boggy.
Does it have a back?
No. It's a backless stool, which is what allows it to fold this small. For long sitting you'll want something with support.
Is it comfortable for a long session?
For half an hour of weeding, yes. It's a fabric sling on a frame, not a padded seat — after an hour you'll notice the frame edges.
Will it take my weight?
Rated to 120 kg. Sit down onto it centrally rather than dropping onto one edge — as with any X-frame stool, the load rating assumes the weight is spread across the seat.
