Solar Fan Sun Hat | Twin-Fan Cooling Hat With Wide Brim — Solar Or USB Charged
The Heat Doesn't Get You. The Still Air Under The Brim Does.
An hour into weeding on a hot day, the problem isn't really the sun. It's the pocket of trapped, humid air sitting between your scalp and your hat while sweat runs into your eyes. That's what makes you stop early, and it's what turns a warm afternoon into a headache by four o'clock.
This hat puts two small fans under the brim and runs them off a solar panel in the crown. Step into the sun and the air across your face starts moving. There is nothing to switch on.
Why It Works
- Solar panel in the crown. In direct sunlight the fans run continuously off the panel — exactly when you need them most, and without touching the battery.
- Rechargeable backup. Under cloud, or in early evening, it runs on the internal battery. Three hours on USB gives roughly seven to nine hours of fan time.
- Twin fans, adjustable speed. Two modes and variable speed, so you can run it low all day or crank it during the hard bit.
- Genuinely wide brim. Around 12 cm of shade — enough to cover the ears and back of the neck, which is where most gardeners actually burn.
- Removable, washable fans. The fan units come out so the hat itself can be washed. That matters more than it sounds after a season of sweat and soil.
- Rear drawstring. Fits roughly 56–63 cm heads and stays put when you bend over a bed.

Common Questions
Is it actually cold air?
No. The fans move ambient air across your skin — the cooling comes from evaporating sweat, the same way a desk fan works. On a 35°C day it will make you comfortable, not cold. Nothing that fits on a hat can refrigerate air.
Can I hear the fans?
Yes, there's a low hum, more noticeable on the high setting. Most people stop registering it after a few minutes, but if you want silence this isn't the hat for you.
Will it run all day on solar alone?
In strong, direct summer sun, yes. In UK-typical broken cloud the panel supplements the battery rather than replacing it, so charge it the night before if you're planning a full day out.
Is it waterproof?
No. It's a shower-resistant fabric hat with electronics in it. Take it off in real rain and don't put it through a washing machine with the fans still fitted.
How long will the battery last over time?
Like any small lithium cell it loses capacity over years of charge cycles. The solar panel takes a lot of the load off it, which helps, but expect run time to shorten gradually with heavy seasonal use.
